Sponsored by China Fashion Designer Association and Guangxi TV, this is the4th year that the contest is done and is the first time Singapore is invited to take part in the contest. We sent 3 models, Joreis, Danielle and Gina. Countries this year are China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Vietnam, India, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore. The contest was in Nanning, Guangxi.

In the contest, one segment involved the use of national costumes which presnted certain difficulties as we had to find costumes that represented our multi racial culture.
We take this opportunity to thank our talented local fashion designer Hiren, founder of Karma, for sponsoring the traditional costumes meant for use in the contest and RS Danny, fashion show producer and stylist, for introducing Hiren and recommending suitable candidates.   

Karma is a Singapore-based label by Raffles Design School graduate, Hiren Vaswani who was also a semi-finalist for the Singapore Young Designers Contest in 2000.  The label Karma is a fusion of western ideals, art and culture and the esthetic beauty and philosophy of the Asian culture and its beautiful handcrafts. The designer superimposes different fabrics and colors to create a new eclectic look. The end result is always something new and vibrant. Karma’s custom made collection is available at 52, Arab Street, Singapore.
